” Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no trail ” By – Ralph Waldo Emerson
It reminds me of a poem by Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken, which in my opinion intends to encourage the listener to become a leader and therefore venturing and discovering a new path, opening up a new world for themselves as well as others to follow.
It tells us what Ralph Waldo Emerson means by his writing . Every one of us can discover something new in us and in the world around us . We need to be adventurous and willing to take some risk.
It means that you must lead your life according to what your mind says.
If the mind is not mature or if the mind is not under proper control, our own mind may take us sometimes in wrong direction.
Our mind should be strong, simple, stable, pure, steady, concentrated, sharp, etc. etc. So one has been cautioned only to take some established path set by noble elders.
If one is having proper mental control, discipline, organized way of living, austere, simple, sacrificing, unegoistic, etc., he/she can be a trend setter or role model for others.
Instead of following the normal expected thing we usually do, sometimes we have to take a different direction, be brave, and leave our mark.
Occasionally its good to take a slight risk, try something new and not be afraid to tread the different path…
We should control our own lives by discovering, taking chances of our own accord.
By making our own path, we will be the first to stumble upon things, pleasant or not.
These discoveries shall be the marks– our marks– in this world and is something that adds to our uniqueness.
Our decisions or the paths we create may lead ourselves to fame. or shame, but at least, others will use our mistakes as warnings and raise themselves up for success…
It says do not go where all other have gone. Don’t copy the others.
“Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”
This means you should make your own path and make other people see what you did.
Be original, be you and make people around you notice you and all your talents.
This is the best way I can explain this to you.
Due to our own insecurity and being averse to risk taking we tend to take the path of least resistance in life .
It is like seeing Egypt as a tourist with a detailed brochure and route map.
The thrill is restricted to finding the sites.
But think of the first archaeologist who discovered the various sites, he /she had no map , no paths to take .
His/her’s was an adventurous trip.
This archaeologist ends up having his name in history books .
It is better to create your own way or shortcut rather than follow other people’s path, which may take a longer distance.
Don’t be a follower but be a leader and or lead together.
